Did you know the key to reducing stress is as easy as breathing? Diaphragmatic breathing, that is.
I am not a health professional!
But I am a lifetime learner.
As I have gotten further down the self-help rabbit hole I have found more neat tricks for reducing stress that I come here to share with you. The most recent being diaphragmatic breathing.
If you don’t know, your diaphragm is a respiratory muscle below your ribcage that is mostly responsible for helping you inhale. It contracts, allowing your lungs to fill up with as much air as possible.
I remember being little and not being able to sleep. For years I had trouble settling my brain until sleep dragged me under. One night, in particular, stands out.
I must have been 10 or so and I probably had gotten up for the eighth time to go get a glass of water or wander aimlessly around the house and my mother came into my bedroom when I returned.
She told me to close my eyes and imagine something peaceful like dolphins or something. …
La-la-la-la-la, I got no self-esteem. You’re not singing the song, are you? Awkward.
Self-esteem, what is it? I guess you could call it an extension of courage, confidence, self-awareness. But if you’re struggling with self-esteem, it’s probably because you need more of it. How can you get more? By doing more things!
I’ll be honest, I am a recovering people-pleaser. Now I won’t bore you with the details but life was easier making other people happy, and I like life being easier. But there comes a point in most peoples lives that they have bent all that they can and…
Self-help books changed the game for me! While already an avid reader, these 11 books were like reading for the first time. Why? Because I became a totally different person!

I think 2020 has left many people reconsidering some of their life choices. I hope you are! Or maybe I hope you’re not?
What I mean by that is, I know that I spent a while living a life that was not meant for me and brought me little happiness. So I hope that you are happy but I also hope that you’re searching for how to improve your life even more. If so, great! You are in the right place!
A fixed mindset that is stuck in its ways. with little desire to grow, change, or see a different…
Despite popular belief, committing to something and seeing it through does not equate to success. Especially not the success you think you should be seeing, more often than not.
No, many times you see something through, and it’s hindsight that shows you all of the flaws with your original logic or approach. I mean, name that ex that just popped into your head, the one that everyone told you to get away from.
But, the best part about going through with something is it teaches your brain to go for it. …
Once upon a time, I was a miserable person. Which is how I actually started my most recent post about sober things to do on St. Patrick’s Day. I don’t want to make this post about me, but I say these things for you to understand that I was not in a happy place for a very long time and have worked hard at changing it.
When I met my husband, I was an angry and sad person, and a lot of that was the circumstances. What my husband helped me understand that while my circumstances may have been less…
I’ll preface this by first stating that I don’t consider myself a feminist. Although I don’t know that I could define what a feminist is. I believe in equal rights no matter your color, creed, or, etc. I’m fine with you as long as you don’t hurt yourself, anyone, or anything else to the best of your ability. If you actively try to not be a detriment to society, I’m fine with you. You can try and fail, but keep trying.
Second, is those that take it super far, like there aren’t differences between men and women. Of course, there…
You might be in the same trap.
I’ve spent all of my life thinking I was supposed to be wired differently. Why couldn’t I just fall in line and do what everyone else was doing?
My brother knew forever that he wanted to be a fireman, or so I think. I saw my parents in jobs that they seemed content with. And here I was, unable to find anything that called to me.
I was good at a ton of things. Plenty more that I was interested in. But nothing I could find would stick.
My parents were miserable in…
Once upon a time, I worked in a restaurant. Well, really the majority of my life I worked in restaurants until I stopped working for someone else altogether.
Among the deluge of customers, repeat and not, was a man of incredible knowledge. Having a conversation with him was equally invigorating as it was slightly irritating. I’m sorry if you figure out this is you, but sometimes I had to actually work at work, ya know? Not just chit-chat, much to my dismay.
If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, you get it. There’s “Margarita” who shows up at 6:30 PM…
